Was commuting on a mountain bike but bought a trek 1.2 a few weeks ago

Today was the first ride,
Concluesions were

Was wierd getting used to the drop handle bars,
Skinny tyres aint much good on ice
SPD SL pedals are good but thing I need to adjust the cleats
Need my mudguards to arrive fast as back was covered in shit when I arrived at work
Had a bit of shoulder ache from the different riding postion

Overall I was only about 10min faster on the rode bike but I did have to take it steady in alot of places as there appeared to be alot of ice about.

Will see how I get on next week as I get more use to the rode bike

10 minutes is still quite something, although that depends on how far your commute is?

Two of my house mates have the 1.2 ('09 & '10), nice bikes, the '10 model looks great.

    Yeah should have mentioned that.

    Its 18 miles.

I think I can shave another 10min off when I bit warmer and not so icy

I think 18 miles in an hour is going to be my target to aim for.

Chapeau, 10 mins is a big hunk of time off 18 miles.

well the mudguards arrived late yesterday in work but the weather look ok so I decided not to fit them and st make the most of a bit of daylight to get home.

Big mistake, 15min into my ride home is started to hail heavily and then rain and did not stop for the whole 18 miles,

Gave my waterproof jacket a good workout tho

Good stuff. 18 miles is hard work on a mtb. I'm broken by the end of the week if I commute on mine.

    New PB = 1Hour 8Minutes

Fitted my new mudguards but no sign of any rain. No doubt there will be some about later
