Who care. These desert races suck and are far removed from the real spirit of true cycling.
The only thing now is I can update my signature with another win notch.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Somebody who replies to the OP maybe ?Gasping - but somehow still alive !0 -
It's a decent warm up race, knocking it is like saying the Ruta del Sol is a waste of time. Especially since Oman seems to be a lot more interesting than Qatar.
Well done for Boonen. The spring classics are the main game but things are coming together very nicely, it's going to be a thrilling two month period.0 -

Bennati can do a decent tt when on form
http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/road/200 ... s/giro0821
but if Cancellara is anywhere near top form then he wont stand a chance.
Suppose Eisel will be a big challenger for the best after Cancellara. Pinotti too. Boonen and Lemoine shouldnt lose that much time given its only 18km. Bit short for Lang.0 -

According Matt Rendell's podcast (from a weeks ago), Boonen's been bigging up his TT credentials and saying he thinks can challenge FC this season. So I reckon he'll be up for it.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Wow, thats a big claim! Be interesting to see how they shape up tomorrow.
Scratch what i said about Eisel, i was getting him confused with someone else, doesnt look good for my PTP this year :oops:0 -
Yeah De Balen Express says he wants to win the World TT Champs this year. A major goal.Contador is the Greatest0

Boonen wants to improve in the TT so that he can come close in the Rotterdam prologue of the Tour and then hopefully grab the yellow jersey within a day or two, although without time bonuses he'll have to win the prologue or pull out something special in the following stages.0
-
Thats ambition for you trying to take on Big Fabian.Good luck to him. He'll need it!0

Go Fabian for Friday. I agree that TT champ Pinotti looks good.
Basically everyone is 16 secs behund a bunch of sprinters not known to be great TT-ers. 18.6 kms will take them 22 mins if it's a flat course. 22:30 if it's windy. Total guess. That should be enuf for a purist to prevail.
But, I'm guessing due to luggage restrictions (sleazyjet's £80!) the teams only brought road bikes and deep dish wheels so technique could be a leveller.
Should be fun.When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
The TT is not flat, it has some rolling hills early on then a flat run to the finish.
You're right about TT bikes though, everyone will be riding road bikes.0 -
So did they go up any climbs at all?!?!?!?!Contador is the Greatest0

I can't find a profile but this satellite image shows the terrain;
It looks lumpy to begin with.0 -

If Tom Boonen can take, say, two 3rd places in the TTs, that'll net him 20 points for the green jersey. Maybe this is Boonen's way of challenging for the green jersey, assuming that he can't "do a Hushovd".
If Cav sweeps up bunch sprints, Hushovd goes on the attack in a hilly stage and Boonen does well in the TTs, it could be a fantastic fight for the points competition.0
