  • While you are there don't miss Puy Du Fou. It is something you will remember for years.

I go there regularly. Don't know which part you're staying in but I just plough a furrow along the coast road from Sauveterre (via Les Sables d'Olonne), down to which ever beach I fancy stopping at, and back again. Any of the little roads leading inland from Les Sables' will take you through nice countryside and villages.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but I just enjoy seeing where the roads take me.

Nice bike shop in Les Sables' and St Gilles Croix de Vie. Enjoy your hols

I am off there later this year in the summer and it sounds like a lovely place to ride. When are you going? let us know how it is. It is nice to have a sunny holiday to look forward to seeing as it is currently raining and dark here!
    I found this site

  • I am sure there was a Velo-rail in the Vandee - if you want to double the size of your thighs while you are away.

Me too, a week in Jard - have promised the children a beach holiday as they've been dragged round the Alps for the last 3-4 years. (Oh and then we're driving across France and taking them to the Alps for 10 days . 8).

I haven't been able to find much about cycling in the Vendee (not road cycling) but we picked Jard because it's supposed to have lots of family/off road cycle tracks.

But I am taking my road bike with me so will hope to get some rides in. :)
  • Thanks keep it all coming, Where is the best place to buy my maps from??? thanks Bob + family.
  • How's your French? This site, while a bit ''touristique,'' might give you a few route ideas. The routes open up through ''+ de détails'' http://pistes-cyclables.vendee.fr/
