Probably much of a muchness, though some people have said that the Conti's feel "dead" compared to the Michelins.
I'd be interested to hear what anyone makes of the Panaracer Closer tyres -these are marketed at exactly what you're thinking of doing and, just like the Michelins, they come in colours! And they're also a bit cheaper too0 -
PR3s get my vote.0

GP4000S's would get my vote, i've used PR3's and the normal GP4000 and the conti's felt like they rolled faster to me but the PR3's seemed slightly more grippy :? Was probably imagining things, both seem great tyres.....winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Depends on the quality of the roads around you. I fell in love with Pro 3s while out in France, but they are useless on the flinty roads nearer home. Slices and punctures were far too commonplace. A great tyre, just not suitable for crappy roads. The conti's are a bit tougher and always get good reviews!0

If racing, and if triathlons, then puncture resistance and grip is less a priority, rolling resistance is more. I haven't had good experiences in conti tyres on the rolling resistance front, partly because of their relatively un-supple ride. PR3s roll fast, but I'd look at Vittorias, specifically Open Corsa CX, which is a lovely tyre, or probably the pick of the lot, Diamante Pro or Pro Light. The Diamante doesn't quite grip like the Open Corsa, but it's perfectly good and better than a lot of other tyres; it's forte is rolling resistance, which among the lowest around (and the pro light than the pro is better in this regard), and they're also extremely light.
I currently have all three (PR3, Open Corsa, Diamante Pro) running on different wheels - the Diamante Pros are on my TT wheels and will be staying put! They're great and great value to boot.0 -

I'd second that - PR3s easily the smoothest tyre I've ever ridden on, but chucked them after THREE punctures in one training ride necessitated a lift back to my car in the back of somebody's old Land Rover...My cycle racing blog: http://cyclingapprentice.wordpress.com/
