  • Maybe a bit late to join the party but I've got an HTC HD2. The hardware is fantastic. The OS is awful. Windows phone 7 ... meh. There's work being done to port Android but I fear that maybe too late for me - iPhone here I come - face first.

  • I own the Iphone 3gs, and i always get bord of my phone and upgrade to the latest models every 6 months, but since i had my iphone i have never looked back.

it seems to do everythign and more, and the touch screen is out of this world, you only have to stroke it for work, not press down hard a few times like other phones out there.

  • Thanks for all the comments, interesting stuff...

Looks like I need to go to the shop and try one out just to see how good the screen is.

Not sure about waiting until May (or whenever) for a 4G version, don't think I'm that worried about having the latest gadget.

Also what do people think about the iphone apps? For what I've seen they just look like a bit of fun, not sure I've seen one that's really of any practical use (not that I've looked into in greatly).

And finally, what's internet browsing like, any good? I'm guessing it is.

There's an enormous ecosystem of App development, and though the waters are muddied by "me-too" pap, at the centre is a core of imaginative and useful programs. Browse the App store in iTunes, or an independent review site like:

Safari on iPhone OS is better than any other mobile browser I've used: I find myself browsing on my iPhone in preference to picking up my MacBook from another room, and not just because I'm lazy...

Safari is generally slow on loading pages. If I get impatient and start trying to scroll before pages load then Safari frequently interprets my scrolling attempts as clicks on links. So I lose my page and end up on another one.

However, the pages generally render the same as they do on a desktop, as long as flash isn't involved.

On the other hand Opera are currently looking to get their mobile browser approved for iPhone (http://i.engadget.com/2010/02/17/opera- ... t-but-why/) which is supposedly quicker.
