If you want to avoid the politics, bullshit and back biting that goes on in most clubs, have a chairman who actualy rides with the club and speaks to the normal members instead of being a jumped up dictator who spends most of his time playing power games.
it would avoid all the petty bullshit.
Most clubs I know have a chairman who never rides, refuses to speak to people and gets manipuled.

FFS - not another one of these posts!

All cycling club chairmen are modelled on famous dictators, I thought everyone knew that!

There, happy now?

which club does this rant relate to - is it still Sotonia, or has he moved on to moaning about CC Giro now, seeing as that was the most recent club he's been kicked out of.......

Either way - any club cabable of spotting a deranged wierdo and getting rid of him sounds like a good one to me....

Okay Softlad you were right, on the last thread Jezm...oh, I mean JohnHughes started, I was incredulous that it was the fabled Jezmo. It is now very obvious, the repeated threads of the same club bashing, each one starting a fresh after he gets lambasted for being a loony on the last one.

Long may it continue, but he really should name the club just so the members can get incensed and tell us more of his crazy antics, as happened with Sotonia. Come on CC Giro dish the dirt!

Dasy - I would love to take the credit, but I can't. It was someone else who first rumbled the 'johnhughes' character as being jezmo....I just wish he would post more than once per thread - but I guess that is all part of the same mental health problem... ;)

    It was in Cycling Weekly,

He was complaining about Sotonia and speaking up the merits of CC Giro, a member from CC Giro (I assume) then posted and suggested that it was best all round if he didn't turn up for their Saturday or Sunday rides. They also asked him to stop wearing their team kit anymore.

The cherry on top was a little tid bit that he couldn't keep up with them on a ride, even before they actually got started and a mountain biker hung on to them longer than he did....

While I think it was harshly-funny. Given his public rantings of other clubs, Chaiman's and people who are often unable to defend themselves he deserves nothing more and probably a lot less. The guy needs help.

Question is, why doesn't he start his own team?

Ahh, you'll need to talk to CC Nuremberg's Minster for club kit, Albert Speer about that...

makes sense - I knew it couldn't be Endura, otherwise they'd still be waiting for it 60 years later.. ;)

The clubs I've been involved with have always been pleasant and easy going, be they CTC or road clubs, either I've been very lucky or he is absolutely barking mad.

I think that the clubs I ride with have there chairman's on rides sometimes (Manchester Wheelers and Clifton CC)
  • I think Jezmo reminds us of our younger, more impetuous selves, when we hadn't realized our desires were out of proportion with any actual ability we might have had. There's a feeling of either "been there, done that" or at least "been there and seen that" when reading some of the posts.

Most people become aware of this imbalance and either knuckle down to some fruitful riding/training/racing or find something more appropriate to do with their time.
