okay, ive tried about 10 different saddles, and ive not yet found "the one", but i think i know what im after.
i want a saddle that has
the same padding/gel as a selle italia flite
is as about 140-145mm wide
and has a flat prfile
does such a thing exist?
maybe something by prologo, but have never seen one so dont know how "hard" they are!!?
thanks

Have you tried a specialized toupe or toupe gel? The 143mm version would tick most of your boxes, although not too sure about the flat profile bit.0

San Marco Zoncolan fits your criteria.
Also, it might help if you could list the 10 saddles you've already tried!0 -
@ Steve23
Have you got any of they "10' saddles?
I've got a Prologo Naga PAS, ( find it on Wiggle) pretty much brand new, It's not doing it for me.
I'd be up for straight swap on a different model.
Been riding an original S I Flite TT for 12 years, an its just about dead!
Let me know.Finished0 -
The Fizik Antares is a fairly close fit to your criteria.
It's nearly as long as the Arione, but wider and flatter at the rear. The padding is really dense and much more supportive than its appearance would suggest, aided by a quite flexible hull results in a surprisingly comfortable saddle for it's weight (about 175g in Ti version).Complicating matters since 19650 -
ive sold all of the saddles ive used, the flite being the best so far
ive used a.....
toupe
alias
romin
san marco regal
aliante
max flite
phenom

Just out of interest, how long have you lived with each one? Also, do you own bibs with a quality chamois?
I'm just thinking of all the other angles before you shell out even more cash! When you say you have not found 'the one', what has been wrong with the saddles you have tried - what is it you have found has not suited you?0 -
Surpised you've not tried the Arione or Antares if you like flat saddles. One of those should be worth a try.0
-
Looing at your list though, the obvious one not tried yet is a fizik arione. Personally I hated mine, but loads swear by them0

Stop being a puss, that many saddles and still no joy? Get some new shorts matewinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Defo try the Zoncolan too then.

I have one, having used Flites for a number of years, and also Rolls. The review isn't strictly accurate IMO, the zoncolan is definitely a flatter shape with much more fore aft movement possible. But a nice saddle.0 -
Fizik Arione for meCarlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow Team Edition.
Like the normal Flite but wider and comfier.
I went from Selle Italia XO Trans-Am (Horrible), to
Charge Spoon (good but numbed my nuts a bit after a while), to
Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel (little bit better again but got uncomfortable for anything over a couple of hours)
Max Flite is a little bit wider again than the Flite, and also has the cutout, but that helps me, don't know if it will for you.0 -
i had a planet x saddle that was like a fizik, rubbed me like mad.
my shorts are good, well assos so not much room for improvement,
for each of the saddles ive given them a few hundered miles, except for some like the toupe, that was like sitting on razor blades!!!
some saddle have given me saddle sores, others made my bits go numb! no question about set up either, ive seen a few different people and all have said my saddle tilt/height etc is spot on_______________________________________________________________________________________

Why don't you try something completely different like Brooks?___________________
Strava is not Zen.0 -
I know how you feel although I've only tried 3 saddles so far
Fizik Pave Sport - too narrow and curvy
Charge Spoon - best so far although I still get sore bum bones after 2 hrs
Currently trying a Specialized Toupe 143 on loan from LBS - like the flat shape and width but sore bum bones after 1 hour on the 2 rides so far and not sure if it's worth continuing.
As I'm quite new to cycling (Sep 2009) it may just be my bum bones needing broken in as it took a few months to sort out my bike fit - no more leg/hip/back pains or pins n needles just sore bum bones
With definitely consider an Arione or Selle Italia Flight Max but as they are so expensive it will be some time before I can afford to do that so will have to decide the Toupe or spoon for now.
Good Luck and I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for more help/suggestions too.Kev

Just to make it completely clear to us saddle searchers.
I've got a Prologo Naga PAS, as new, I'd be willing to swap for one of these already mentioned perches.
Maybe I'd sort the postage if it was a decent offer.
Come to think of it I've also got a standard Planet-X saddle that I don't use.
Any takers?

Another Arione convert here, don't dismiss it on the strength of a Planet-x clone, i have had both and the Arione is better made and more supportive. He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0
