Got this end of August last year and all thats left of the original bike is the frame, forks, tyres and groupset. I knew I'd be making changes when I bought it, finishing kit with the exception of the saddle wasn't up to much but for £1600 it was a bargain. Put the SLR on straight away and my Deda Newton bars I've used for years. Had Michelin Pro Race3 on until weather got too bad. Sold the Fulcrum 5s that came with it and in hindsight should have saved them for winter. I've had the Eastons a few years now and new wheels are next on the upgrade list although how I'll get them past the wife god knows. Had some Easton EC90 SLX Ergo-Bend bars with a Thomson X2 stem but didn't like the bars as much as I thought I would. Unfortunatley the stem is oversized and can't be used with the standard size Biomorph bars which are great.
Something will be different on it by the weekend I'm sure !!!

    Seen these

which would work well withe the X2 as it has a cut out in the face plate.
Not sure if I'm comfortable with a shim on handlebars really.
Besides I think the old forgie looks ok for now.
£8 ? can't do any harm to try them though.

  • Hi Galatzo

Great bike, have you been out on it yet. I have the Cayo 105 with a few upgrades and its still sitting in the shed (I use the MTB this time of year).

    Thanks

I don't have a winter bike (the sooner I wear this one out the sooner I can have another !) so I have been using it through winter although it may not look like it but that's because it has to be cleaned after every ride this time of year.
White shows the slightest bit of dirt up so I find myself polishing every last smudge.

I got some of those Kore shims and they work really well with a stem like mine with a see through face plate.
Re-fitted the Thomson stem again and it looks better - not sure if it's worth posting pics again for such a minor amendment though.

Got the LBS to way it and it seems to be about 200gr heavier that I thought :(

Tempted by some of these wheels

Would you go with black spokes or white which would be a pain to keep clean but look blingin' as the kids say ! ?

New frame looks great. I love the thick tubes on Focus bikes, makes it look like a big toy.

Can i ask why you use the setback seat post? Instead of getting a larger frame...? Thx

Thought I needed it and also thought it'd look good.
As it happens I don't think I need the setback now but I still think it looks good !
The standard post that came with the bike is a bit drab to say the least and as I'm getting "another" (says the wife) new frame soon (with a different diameter seatpost needed) it's not worth changing.

    Cheers

What happened to the old frame for it to be replaced under warranty?

There was a crack in the laminate/paint in the headtube.
Pretty sure it wasn't in the actual frame.
Wiggle were excellent at sorting it out for me, only downside was it had to go back to Focus but Wiggle were as quick as they could be.
3 year warranty starts again from date replacement frame was sent to me.

    Top service !
