My first post - an introduction

Hello everyone,
Like many people I've been a long time reader of the forum, so I thought it was about time I signed up to take part in the discussions.
I used to be heavily into cycling when I was younger, no that I'm older and fatter I've got back into it - mainly for enjoyment and health, rather than competitive.
Currently the fleet consists of a cheap MTB and a cheap hybrid (see my blog for the gory details) - both are fine for what I want, but I will confess to having a desire to buy a decent roadie for the summer months.
So I'll keep it short and sweet, no need to bore everyone to death with my first post
I look forward to becoming a more active member of the forum

Every once in a while I post something related to cycling on my cycling blog.

Just remember that when you buy your roadie, get what is right for you.
Not just a popular name of a bike here.
We all, including me, have an opinion of what is best for you, but only you know.
The basics are a good local shop and a bike that fits
And in budget (ish)
Most of all enjoy your cycling, don't give a flying f about anyone else.Richard

Wise words, go to good bike shop and try the bikes, and don't rush into anything, you'll have the bike for a long time and you don't want it to be a pain in the arse.Trek Madone 3.5

Hello and welcome.
I am new to the sport and have learnt loads from here, also received some good (and badly needed) support from the forum.
Another few months of plugging away and I might upgrade myself to novice.
Enjoy.0 -
another welcome. One of the most productive things you can on here do is to post a question asking whether Campag is really better than Shimano or SRAM. Or, as bobbinogs suggests, ask about oil.
