My insurance is up for renewal again, probably stick with M&S but the premium is pretty high to keep the bikes on, £475. In the past couldn't find another company that would give the same level of cover on the bikes, included with the buildings and contents. Has anyone else found any good deals? Last time I looked it was even dearer to have a specific bike policy and a cheaper deal with the home & contents.

Not very helpful I guess but I recently shopped around for home insurance and ended up with M&S. I haven't found anyone else who will cover home contents including bikes, even when away from the home at comparable rates.European Cycling Trips: http://bikeplustours.com0

£475 including the bikes? If so it's (M&S) probably the best deal considering the level of cover and service. Dedicated bike policies are usually 10% of the value per year, so 2 x £2000 bikes would cost you £400, and the cover would be worse.0

I recently took out buildings, contents and bike cover with SAGA, (incl. 'away from home') for £240/year. The bikes are valued at £2100.
Hope this is of help.0 -
check the small print: I have looked at 5 policies and all stipulate locking to street furniture with an approved (massive) lock if away from home. So, I am self insured.vintage newbie, spinning away0

Read the small print on everything. I'd suggest speaking to a broker. They know what they're talking about.
I have a policy through a broker with Sterling, it has unlimited cover on the bikes, no stipulation about locking them to anything. It's not a cheap policy circa £500 but the levels of cover are very high.www.icenivelo.co.uk - Norfolks most inclusive cycling club0 -
i insured my house through the AA .
plus 2 named bikes at £2500 each and any item (inc other bikes) unnamed as below £1500.
premium was about £420 IIRC.
thats including accidental damage and theft away from home - bikes need to be locked for the theft clause to be valid0
