NY Velocity is an interesting site, plenty of NY-specific stuff but they reach out beyond this and cover pro cycling with some insightful stuff.

A new version of the "Bickering with Pickering" blog is up, featuring Ed Pickering of Cycle Sport mag.

  • tirreno poster is brilliant!
  • I know it's not exactly new, but I've recently discovered Cycling Tips which is excellent: http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/

There is also, ahem, my new blog IN THE SADDLE:

I'll second the Twisted Spoke blog above, I'm a convert to the regular pieces, good fun.

I'd add http://theinnerring.blogspot.com/ , the info on today's Paris-Nice stage is quite useful for example, might help for PTP too.

"it's a classic scenario of easy tailwind for ages and then a crosswind in exposed territory. Watch out for crashes at this moment at least. Certainly the team managers will have to warn their riders about this and Rabobank will be at ease, the terrain is so flat it's almost Dutch. Expect a tactical sprint, the finish should be into a stiff headwind"

    Indeed.

Here's the Milan San Remo poster.

I love it! Found it courtesy of http://italiancyclingjournal.blogspot.c ... -away.html

EDIT: grr, you can't seem to copy blog images. Visit the blog link above for the story, worth the click.

It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

Courtesy of the inner ring blog, that's Fabio Parra above in an election leaflet. He's standing for election in Columbia.

For those of you that don't know or need reminding, Parra was part of a golden generation of Columbian riders who set the Tour de France on fire in the mid 80s with their impressive climbing abilities.

The leaflet gives instructions on how to mark your ballot paper - for CR and candidate 112 (Senor Parra) as well as the not very catchy slogan of "a sports leader in the chamber".

Italian cycling journal, also above, has news of Michele Bartoli and Eros Poli back in competition - and winning. This time in a team time trial. Poli was part of the Italian team time trial squad when it was an Olympic discipline. Discipline's the word since it was a 100km 4-up trial, a killer effort.

    Le blog de l'Ardoisier : http://21virages.free.fr/blog

The blog is in French, but there is many galleries of podium girls, which includes ladies from the 10 last Tour de France (from 2000 to 2009).
    http://21virages.free.fr/blog/index.php?galleries

(in French, l'Ardoisier is that guy on his motorcycle who gives the gap between the echappée and the peloton)

Thanks for that, it's very thorough. Having tipped Belgian Kneewarmers on the previous page, it now seems it's a case of "pro is program no go", that blog seems to have shut down. Pave offers a lot for the upcoming classics.

It's interesting that some of these blogs can deliver a lot more that the normal media, you get humour or insight that traditional reporting often doesn't deliver, even though the main websites and magazines have press passes. Cyclesport have linked up with NY Velocity to incorporate the uber-wry Toto comicstrip and I wonder if other outlets will start to harness outsider voices.

http://velogogo.com/ is a nice easy one to check occasionally. It isn't updated that often but often has some good things on it. Well worth going back through older posts.
