Squeaky Juicy 5.

Hi All

I have had some Juicy 5's now for some time and they have only just started to squeak. The thing I don't understand is that they are doing it when i'm just riding along and not pulling the brake. Is this normal as I thought most squeaky brake problems were when the brake was being applied?

Any help with what to do to stop this would be appreciated.

I know there are loads of squeaky brake posts but I couldn't find one with this particular problem.

    so the pads are rubbing.

check the front wheel for play.

    reset the caliper.

    +1

Could also be a warped disk.

  • Tried aligning the calliper and the wheel is free from play. Will check the rotor though. Whats the best way to do this?
  • If its a standard disk (not floating) whip it off and lay it on a surface you know is flat.

  • Try a bit of wd40.

Possibly the pistons are a little gummed up with mud, brake dust etc, causing the pads not to retract properly.

I make sure I clean mine whenever I wash the bike by working the brakes while applying the hosepipe followed by some brake-safe degreaser in and around the calipers, then wait a bit and hose off.
