Route plotting software that allows full screen?

As title.
I uploaded a route to RideWithGPS.com and was checking it out, I notice if I click the button with 4 triangles in, it goes full screen. Is there any mapping software/website that allows this and uses google maps?
http://ridewithgps.com/trips/17124
**EDIT**
I never noticed this site has the ability to draw routes, any other sites tho? Shame Bikehike and Bikely can't do it
Thanks
Will.

You started the route at 4:11? Is this a fear of daylight?
Still, I didn't know about the site, I'll bookmark it. But you won't get me out on a ride at that time....0 -
Most of them....
e.g. Bike route toaster - you need to press F11 to send your browser fullscreen, and hide the controls - clck on the PIN, and then it's full screen.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -
Is your clock set correctly? It's showing as 12:11PM here, which is the time I set off0

This could be the site I've been looking for since bikehike shut down its database.

Yea this site is proving great, I've just drawn a route using it's creator:
http://ridewithgps.com/users/5867
http://ridewithgps.com/users/5867/activities
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/33153
It would be good if they good add an OS window like on BikeHike as that's a great feature.
I'm not sure I should trust elevation anymore, Garmin Connect and this site reports totally different total elevation and things such as max gradient are inaccurate.
From what I've being told, the site is going to have premium accounts when it comes out of Beta, and some of the features currently available like creating routes you'll have to pay for, but if the price is reasonable I think I will, from what I've heard it's going to have different subs, like yearly or monthly.
Certainly beats Garmin Connect though, would be good if they could get it so you can click on a activity title and let you rename it like just as you do on Garmin Connect.0 -

Yep, the clock on my PC is set to time.windows.com. And it's showing as ''departed*'' at 4.11. Mebbe it thinks I'm in California because I'm not registered on the site.
*Departed? I'm sorry to hear of your recent bereavement.0 -
I have set off for a ride at 4:30 in the morning once0

Yebbut the offy was shut, wasn't it?0 -
Hey freehub, it was nice chatting with your earlier. I am glad we got that bug squished and you signed up
I just wanted to clarify, I didn't mean to imply that when we get premium accounts setup that some features would become payed features, rather, I meant to say that we will keep what is currently free, free, however, new more advanced features will be placed under premium accounts. However, people using the site like they do now won't lose functionality, but will in fact gain it as we refine our featureset.
Secondly, in regards to elevation data. I believe we are the most accurate in regards to elevation data of any service. There is alot of 'noise' in the logfiles people upload, and it has to be cleaned up using some pretty advanced math in order to calculate an accurate gain/loss figure. We are doing that for both rides people upload, and for routes people map using the route creator. The elevations for the route creator come from the USGS. It is a good dataset, but needs that processing I mentioned to accurately calculate. I talk about it in detail for any math geeks here: http://cullenking.com/2009/6/12/using-g ... ation-data
I am always intent on improving the accuracy of our calculations, and am reworking some of the averages right now. Also, I am looking for some even more advanced math to get the elevation data even more refined, however, I do feel it is the best out there right now!0 -

It would be great if there was an option to lose the first and last 100m of any uploaded route. Otherwise it would be fairly easy to work out the exact address of anybody uploading routes by looking at the most common start and finish locations.0 -

Alternatively, you could start recording your routes from a set public place in the vicinity...or, if you've got any nearby residents that you detest....0 -

Yes I could, but I have a bike, not a time machine, so your solution is useless for the 100 or so rides I've done up until today :twisted:0 -

None have as much screen cover for the map though as RideWithGPS, as with that you go full screen, then press the button and the whole screen is for the map..
Look at this, my whole 17" of screen all for the map!, another thing I have noticed about RideWithGps, the map view when plotting maps works much quicker than that on BikeHike or Bikely, those seem to mess up due to the slow connection here, but RideWithGPS does not.
This is like the best site for routing and uploading routes now.0 -

What, like this?

How do you do that? I've tried using map my ride before, does seem abit of a faf compared to bikehike, adverts get in the way too.0
-
I used to use mapmyride but the adverts were a pain in the ar$e. I've been using bikely since the demise of bikehike but find it slow and annoyingly unreliable - plot a route, describe it, save it, go back to my list of routes, and it's not saved :x0
-
The MapMyRide map height is set to the same height as the visible area of the window it's in, so you can just scroll down until it occupies the whole window. Then hit F11 and hey presto! full screen mapping.
The ads are annoying, but not too much of a problem on a nice big screen - worth it for the performance and reliability advantage over Bikely (which I was using before) IMO. I find the training logging features quite handy too.- - - - - - - - - -

This ridewithgps seems much better than mapmyride tbh, since it's got all the features of garmin connect too.0

DesWeller: I love your picture showing the mapmyride fullscreen functionality. It perfectly depicts why we are confident ridewithgps will have great success: fixhub's screenshot has no ad in the middle of the map
Also, we are going to implement some better privacy controls that will obscure the start/end of routes. I have it tentatively sketched out as part of a way improved route editing page; I *might* be able to do it automatically, but, depending on the route, an automatic trimming could still show details of where you live. I will be playing with it soonish.0 -
Privacy controls are the key. I don't want people knowing where I live (and therefore where I store my expensive bike). Without proper privacy I think a lot of people would be cautious about uploading routes that start or finish at their home.
Is there a way to select which uploaded routes are accessible to others and which aren't? Or are all rouites available to all? Personally, I'd like to be able to mask some routes if that's possible.0 -
When I save routes on ridewithgps there's an option as to whether it's a private or public route. Most of my routes start from a train station, but the ones from home I start drawing it from some other place nearby. I see the problem though if you're uploading it from GPS though.0
-
I've never thought about that, I'll start my GPS from the main road now.0
-
I've just started using http://www.gpsies.com/home.do after being an avid user of BikeRouteToaster for ages. I find GPSies far more reliable and easy to use.0

I'll give it a whiz. I've only just ruddy well started using MapMyRide though! I'm gonna have to put my old routes in all over again, bah...- - - - - - - - - -

I've just uploaded some rides from a recent Majorca training camp and there seem to be a lot of speed spikes in the 1-4mph range. Have a look at this http://ridewithgps.com/trips/17486 or any of my other rides and you'll see there are 1-4 mph spikes in all of them. Strange.0
-
DesWeller: we had an import from bikely and mmr service, where we automaticallty pulled over all of your routes, however, they sent us a cease and desist order! We don't think they have legal grounds to stand on, however while we investigate we have left the service disabled. Hopefully we can get it back up and running in one way or another, even if it is a desktop client
Privacy settings for blurring the start/end points of routes are being developed. We have a couple things on the plate in front of them, however, we are aware that a good number of our users have interest in such a feature. For now you can always draw a private route, however, uploading GPS data can be an issue. Give us another month or so and we should have something in place!
GiantMike: right now, we are not smoothing out spikes in your speed data. Since speed is calculated using the distance between consecutive points and the time it took to travel that distance, any error in the GPS units accuracy will change the accuracy of the speed. If the unit erroneously logs a point 30 meters further away than it should, it will increase the speed, and, vice versa. We are working on getting all this data as accurate and smoothed is possible,, I just haven't got to speed yet. Been working on elevation, next i'll tackle heart/cadence/power/speed. Best part, we store all your original data untouched, so, we can always change the values of speed and such and correct existing uploaded rides!
Please, we are an open and friendly group of people working on ridewithgps. Any suggestions, problems or whatnot can be directed our way. We want to make a service to satisfy all of you, which is the difference between us and the rest of the other sites. They want to satisfy advertisers, we want to please users and get as may of them to pickup a premium account0 -

I wasn't complaining, it was just an observation that the metrics appear to show me riding for up to an hour at 2-4 mph and this is clearly wrong. I don't think there's anything wrong with the site or the GPS unit, possibly just a minor interfacing issue.
Cheers
Mike0 -
Don't worry Mike, I was just explaining why it happens, and that we intend on fixing it0

I got in contact regarding the stats, I posted a link to the same exact route on ridewithGPS and on Garmin Connect, the Garmin Connect stats are correct whilst the ridewithgps stats are massively incorrect for some reason.0
