Not sure on the quality, but am thinking of getting this as a new frame and having the old alu frame for the winter.

Has anyone else bought a frame like this from ebay and if so, what do you think?

Cheers.

There's another ebay seller who sells the same frames as the Pedalforce RS-2 or the Ribble Granfondo for a similar price. Landed with vat and duty will add another $100. There's a long thread running on Roadbikereview
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

It might cost you £350 with vat and duty, limited solutions if it isn't good or if there is a problem, you could spend £100 - £150 more and get a carbon frame from a UK shop and I think it would offer more peace of mind. Or, get a full Ultegra equipped bike for £999, or full Dura Ace for £1199 here; you could sell the parts and the frame would work out very cheap.

You can buy the Planet X frame for £400 and or the Riblle Sportive one for around £480.

In my opinion its not worth the hassle buying it from the US to save what - £100?

I bought one about 2 years ago - no issues apart from the non dirve chain stay has a flattened profile (have a look at the picture - you will see it clearly) which requires you take some care in your shoe/pedal setup to stop the occassional rub of the shoes heel on the frame.

The frame is light and rigid (I am a 'large' person :? ) and feel no frame flex - certainly more comfortable to ride then my old 531 frame or old CAAD 5.

Not really a fair comparison this.

The Planet X offering includes the forks. The Ribble doesn't.

Oh,and Ribble have just put the price up by £20 in the past week.

Heard some very good things about those frames and for £285 you really can't go wrong.

You could even have change from £500 and get it sprayed in your own colours.

Go For it Mate, budget on maybe £100 VAT

Aye, fair enough. Thats a good price for the Planet X, they're doing full bikes at £900 with 105 too. Ugly though.

You can learn to love the looks (they look better in blue/pink or white).

i bought one of these ebay carbon fibre frames from china in December last year. it was £310 for frame, fork, seat post, headset, stem and drop bars. It was a 12k weave (narrower pattern) which i thought looked better. it arrived within about 10 days and was marked as valued at $50 so never had to pay import or VAT. The frame looks good and is certainly light. i haven't been out on it yet as am in process of building it up with ultegra 6700 groupset and currently saving for some decent wheels. i'm encouraged by the favourable comments from others and looking forward to the gritters finally stopping and roads being clean (and dry enough) to get out on on it. i think ebay seller's id was 'carbonbicyle99' though they don't seem to be currently selling any frames.

I have had 2 other kinds of "ectomy", maybe that's what did for me

When you get a new DA equipped PX carbon for £650, you learn to like the looks!

    Hi

I noticed in an old thread, you've brought a carbon frame off ebay. I'm looking to do the same, but don't trust many of the sellers. Which one did you use?
How are you finding the bike?

    Cheers
