The organisers are bored with people on Bikeradar calling it a chipper, so they've decided to toughen up the race a bit

    Looks like a good warm up for Flanders and might be too tough for the likes of Cavendish. (Mr Cavendish, if you're reading this I want a credit when you win! :wink: )

    Shame it isn't a full distance 250 km classic again but that looks like it's coming next year.

    That's a real change, no more trips to the windswept coast. It's much, much hillier although there is time to regroup before the finish. The climbs over in France are longer and faster, useful to thin the bunch out a bit.

    No, don't think so. With a longer route next year they could take in Cassel, which is cobbles.

    I'm not sure I like the changes. It's becoming pretty much like most other main Flemish classics - the wind at the coast always used to be the defining feature of Gent-Wevelgem, and I hope they will reintroduce that next year with more kms to play with.
