just looking to upgrade tyres on an otherwise fine cheap new ridgeback hybrid. puncture protection and a bit of grip for knackered city roads are priority. not too knobbly or expensive. current are size 700x38c
have seen specialized infinity with flak jacket at £17/ea - is this known for repelling punctures? is this the sort of price i'll need to spend to beat the generic glass prone hybrid tyres that came with the bike?
any help appreciated.

just put marathon plusses on, they're dear and feel like lead, but you have to work really really hard to puncture them.0

My 700x37c Continental Sport Contacts don't have a rep as an indestructible tyre but I have not had a flat in 5 months of using them."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

I put these on the winter bike and they have been very good with no p******s.

I've been testing out a pair of Vittoria Ranonneur Hyper 700x32c. They are folding tyres with 120tpi casings, so are fairly light and roll far better than their size would suggest. They also have a triple kevlar shield, so should be quite durable. So far I'm very impressed.David
