Hi all I am currently considering purchasing a Scott Aspect 45 2010/11 model. There do not seem to be many reviews on this bike, is there any one out there that has got one of these or ridden one? Are they any good?

  • I just took delivery of mine this week.
Looks great, and so far rides great. However, I have not taken it out properly yet.

Will let you know how I get on after riding it properly this weekend.
  • Thanks, Have been looking around last couple of weeks and tested a few bikes and I keep coming back to this one as my favourite choice!
  • Good budget performer. Bit bland in my opinion, if you're going to get a scott, it is only really worth getting a carbon one a fs one or the voltage. The scale and aspect are lovely, but they don't really set me alight in the same way. Relatively good VFM though and excellent frames.
  • Well I am after a hardtail £550 max budget. Suggestions?

The Carrera Fury at Halfords gets a lot of good write ups. Decent frame, better fork than the Scott plus good spec transmission. Don't dismiss it just cos it's from Halfords mind....

From my buying experiences the 'premium' brands like Scott, Spesh, Marin etc have excellent frames but skimp on the forks. Fine if you want to upgrade in a few months, but you could end up with a pogo stick on the front till that point.

The sub premium brands like Carrera still manage to supply a decent frame but often come with better forks and finishing kit.

Maybe look at he Merlin Malt 1, which is a bit dearer than the Fury

Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

I have a Scott Aspect 45 '08' and my mate has a 2010 Scott Aspect 45. I think the 2010 Scott is a good bike for the price. When I was helping my mate choose, I told him to steer clear of the Tektro Auriga brakes but he bought the bike and they were actually very good. It's a top bike worth considering!
  • Thanks all for the feed back.

Well I like the way the bike feels and looks for the money which is what matters, there are always going to be negatives to a £500 bike. Thats why it is £500 not £1500!
  • Took my Scott Aspect 45 (2010) out the other night for a ride. Was brilliant.

My Hardrock Sport got nicked a few weeks ago and the Insurance company I was dealing with would not deal in some of the other bikes I was looking for - I didn't want the new Hardrock, so opted for the Scott.

Compared to the Spesh, I think it rides much better. Still yet to do any trails or anything, mainyl been out on roads and light tracks, but I love it so far!

Also, for what it is worth, I think in white and blue, it looks pretty smart too!
  • Thanks. Had already decided on the white and blue colour scheme, looks good. Am going to ride again this weekend and order. 8)

I wanted to point out that there is a special running through March 11, 2010 at REI outlet. I purchased a 2009 Scott Aspect 45 for $450 before tax. I wasn't able to ride the bike first but for this price I will purchase it and have it shipped to my nearest store for free. If I don't like it I will return it. I'm not sure how many are left. There are only XL size listed on the site.

    Hi,

I have had a Scott Aspect 45 since last year and it is good bike. I looked around for ages and tried different bikes until I settled on this. The forks are ok and I have a had a little trouble with the disc brakes at the front but I attended a bike maintenance course and I can fix all that now. The bike is quite lite and gives good feedback. The main thing is that its has a good frame so any parts on it can be changed at a later date.

Hope this helps just try it first because getting a bike is very individual.

    Hope this helps
