Need a new threaded headset

I'm replacing my current headset (1") and at the moment am probably going with a Stronglight A9 and would welcome any comments on it, or suggestions for alternatives. It's going on a hybrid used for commuting and touring.
Choices for threaded headsets seem pretty limited (so far alternatives pretty much seem to be Campag, Shimano and Chris King). And the Stronglight seems pretty good value by comparison.
Thanks in advance

I think you need to do a bit more searching for threaded headsets. While not as common
as years gone bye they are still very plentiful and at a wide range of prices and manufacturers. I remember buying a "cheapo" about 10 years ago and it still works smooth as can be and if memory serves me I've only re lubed it once or twice. Any good shop should have access to getting one for very little money or a Chris King for a bunch of money. One will probably last about as long as the other.0 -
I've just replaced my Shimano 105 threaded headset with a Record one. I have to say the 105 with sealed bearings did look more solid. The Record one looks prettier. Chris King ones are overpriced.
All in all, if you're not obsessed by the look, the Shimano 105 is an excellent headsetleft the forum March 20230
