I posted an advert selling a few items. I can only assume that because I didn't include photos it has been deleted.
I did not say "email for photos" I just described the items.
So do you HAVE to include photos now???

yup probably, read the rules in the FAQ. Seems like they're enforcing the rules more now too.Your adverts should include:
Photos - or at least a link to a FLIKR/hosting site, and not Manufacturer websites. We know what XXX looks like, but what we REALLY want to know is what the bike/bits for SALE looks like.

There are still posts without pics that have not been deleted so maybe there is another reason they are being deleted?0

This happened to me as well, I also notice others don't have photos. I was slightly annoyed as well, esp as I have sold on here before with no probs!Look 675 Light Di2

I love how people complain because they can't follow the rules on a PRIVATELY OWNED website. Their site, their rules.
Do you go to a party at someone else's house, drink all their beer, eat all their food and then crap in their living room? No - you follow the house rules because it's THEIR house (well - MOST people do - especially if you want to be invited back).
Just because YOU can't follow the rules, doesn't mean you have the right to complain if other people don't too. Plus I'm pretty sure the mods don't get paid for this job and can't catch EVERY little thing.
If you don't like it - start your own website or pay to sell your cr@p on eBay.0 -
What I don't understand is why some people find it so difficult to take a picture.
It doesn't cost anything and takes a couple of minutes so why not? It probably took the OP longer to write this thread than it would have done to take a couple of pictures.More problems but still living....0 -
Yes it seems a bit OTT....but it's their rules I suppose.
I had my post deleted because I linked it to CRC the one with the big banner on the right hand side of this page ???
Yes I did take and display my own pictures but I threw in the link to CRC for a more technical review.
I'm from N.Ireland and live about 6 miles from the shop. And this is 100% true 3 of my club mates work in the store (2 are sponsered by the store) and the other is the manager of the store, I'm going to mention it to him on Sunday and see what he thinks ? Mods you can contact me directly and I'll only be too happy to confirm this.
Anyway ...the bottom line is we should obide by the rules however much we disagree with them.
Peace to the mods0 -

You always have a lot to say, and when you do actually say something more sensible than this perhaps people might listen. If they want to ban people selling stuff, then perhaps they won't have a for sale bit.

Personally speaking I have always found CRC to be very helpful and are probably
the best firm I have ever dealt with when a problem arisesMahatma Gandhi was asked by a British journalist what he thought of Western civilisation. "I think it would be a good idea," he replied.0 -
Sorry but it is a pain in the neck when someone can't even be arsed to include a photograph of the item they are selling. It is not complicated to do and it adds a little more security to online buying and selling.
There's always the option of a carboot sale if taking a photograph and uploading it to a hosting website is a little much like hard work...
Fairplay, they are enforcing the rules harshly for the best. People will find something else to cry about next week and all the for sale ad's will have nice pictures...Revolution, not evolution! ...Happy days0 -
Not posting a pic can hardly be compared with crapping in someone`s living room and anyway I haven`t got a camera so i`m guilty of not posting pics too.Smarter than the average bear.0

i think a warning should suffice, ie if they dont add a pic within 24hrs then the ad gets pulled - all this must be driving the mods crazy pulling ads left, right and centre!
i agree you need to post pics and if you do post you should read the rules but take a chill pill perhaps?
happy trails.........0 -

Sorry Ant - I didn't mean the not posting a pic bit - I meant everyone p1ssing and moaning about 'rules' like they own the place. I've seen this type of thing on too many forums - and in the end the forum owners usually end up pulling the sales section all together.
Personally I wouldn't buy something from someone who can't provide photographic proof they actually have it and can show me the condition of it - unless I know them personally - so it's in your benefit to have a pic with a sales listing!0 -
Oh yes, I misinterpreted your post somewhat.
Next time I sell i`ll be sure and post a pic now that I knows the rules.Smarter than the average bear.0 -

Sounds perfectly sensible to me. They are letting people advertise free of charge so the least people can do is follow the rules. Also, surely anyone wanting to sell their stuff would add a photo anyway otherwise how are you supposed to get an idea of the condition? They're not banning people selling stuff, they are just setting some ground rules to prevent a free for all.0 -

Wasn't the classified's pulled some time ago, when part of the C+ forum, followed by a huge outrage?
All the rules seem fair to me - how can people complain for something that's free? If you don't like it, advertise somewhere else.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -

Are you allowed to advertise your affection for forum contributors without a photo?"There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0 -
The main thing I've noticed is that all those who are complaining seem to have had a low post count. There should be a minimum posting count of 50 before you are able to sell IMHO.
I personally think it's a common courtesy to the website to read the FAQ first before thinking about your own profit. As others have said, if you don't like it then there's always the hassle of ebay and gumtree.CAAD9

.
It may be my imagination but, it seems to me that recently a lot of new members have
signed up simply to sell something. My approach for short term low post members
has been to ask for the goods to be sent to me for inspection before sending payment
In fact I think that would be the best way to carry out all transactions on the
classified sections.Mahatma Gandhi was asked by a British journalist what he thought of Western civilisation. "I think it would be a good idea," he replied.0 -
IMHO there appear to be too many posters who only ever appear in the classifieds, without ever contributing to the forum elsewhere. Their 'post-count' only increasing due to their bumping their own or starting new 'for sale' threads.
I'd suggest that a forum member should need to have a minimum number of posts (50?) before bieng able to post in the for sale section of the classifieds. If they don't like it they should stay on flea bay.Cycling weakly0 -

My particular favourite are the ones whose VERY FIRST post is to sell a high-end bike or frame. Usually almost new... :roll:0 -
Like many have said, "if you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen"
I buy loads on here and find the Classifieds really useful, but I always have to ask for photos and how much.
I buy loads off eBay and expect people to turn round and say that they don't have a buy it now price, but I don't expect it on here.0 -

Not always a bad thing, a lot of people tend not to use forums for one reason or another but have gone out and spent a lot of money on something that may have been recommended by a shop, I know I've sometimes spent waaaaaaayyyy too much on something that is going to be the new all encompasing hobby/pastime only to look to sell the stuff six months later due to lack of use.
Though I would always take a lot more care in buying from someone with a low or non existant post count, usually wanting a landline phone number and only doing the deal in a face to face situation.0 -
No photos isn't a big deal to me - it simply means I won't even consider buying it...
It winds me up a lot more when people refuse to advertise with prices. Inviting PM offers smacks of dishonesty.0
