    I've been a few times.

Loads of great campsites, however, I know from experience that http://www.tynygroes.com/ is good.

If you have a large group, trying something like this - http://www.logcabinswales.co.uk - For even larger groups, try the bunk house! Great pub in this place too!

For a difference, a group of us are going this weekend and are staying in the camping barn at http://www.caegwynfarm.co.uk/

I'll let you know what this place is like!

    Forgot to say, I've camped here - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/detai ... revid=1131

Great campsite, although, it is a 10 min DRIVE to the visitor centre from here.

Went there last year and stayed in a bunk house type place just outside Dolgellau, can't for the life of me remember what it was called though. Check the link above, it was on that list. Lock up for bikes, accomodation £10 or £12 a night, clean bunks, big kitchen, 20 min walk to dolgellau. It was a drive up to the trail centre but a few folks rode back (it being mostly downhill). Think the place was called Dolgan Uchaf or something like that?

[edit to clarify that accomodation was £10 a night not the lock up for bikes!]

I went to Coed y Brenin 2 weeks ago, although I stayed on Anglesey it was an hours drive to the trail. I wasnt complaining with £3 a night. A few of the guys we went with stayed at http://www.tynygroes.com/, four of us had dinner there. They were really friendly and helpful, (washing dirty clothes, etc) and from what I saw had a place to lock away the bikes.

And its only like 10 minutes away from the trails.

    +1 for tynygroes ^^

Stayed there on my last visit to CYB, and been pleased with it. Reasonable prices in pub and restaurant too (nice And generous portions of home made food), free bike lock up and nice clean rooms not to mention that visitors center is 1mile away.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though
  • I stay in cae Gwyn as much as poss when I'm there, It's a small sheep farm with 3 camp feilds and a barn.

facilities are basic but clean. but hte best part is its miles from town or anything so you only get walkers/bikers here no plebs that you get closer to towns. and the veiws are awsome
  • been to coed y brenin 5 times now and stayed at the Torrent Walk campsite in Dolgellau everytime. camping is around £6 per person/per night. bunk houses are around £10pp/pn and they also have b&b rooms available in the main house. bunk houses have access to communial kitchen/dining hut with tv and bbq area. nice camp site with good facilities. bike jet wash for £1 and free bike storage. only 10min drive to coed y brenin visitor center
  • Eeek Torrent walk is the worst chav infested site in north wales :(
  • great, thanks for all the replys
