Many thanks0

Aldi bib tights at £15 have been ace over the winter, soft shell jacket & gloves also. Shame the zip went on the overshoes after about 8 rides, but they were £6 - with the hat.0

My overshoes are still going strong. The only problem is the underside nearly gone due to walking in them when I get to work with my MTB shoes on. Cracking buy and will deffo be getting some again when they come on sale.Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
I RIDE A KONA CADABRA -would you like to come and have a play with my magic link?0 -

Why not take them off as soon as you get off the bike? I try to take mine off as soon as I step off the bike, even before I phaff around locking the bike away.More problems but still living....0 -
my overshoes have been blinding - used many times all winter long with no problems. I was actually wondering about using 2 pairs over each other for really cold days. No zip issues or problems with the bottom. The hat is also big enough for my big head and warm as well. Many creep up over my ears but these stay put very nicely.
The gloves are another great bargain, although not too breathable, and the only thing that let them down on the really cold days was the snug fit that didnt allow me any liners underneath. The padding and fleeced thumb are good though.
I'll be looking out for more of their stuff as I also have a L/S running top which is also worth grabbing.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
Glad other folk have had better luck with the overshoes, maybe it was just due to lack of maintenance - they pretty much just sit in the garage caked in dirt. I'll probably manage to fix the zip & of course then I'll look after them much better...0

I think the last lot of Aldi kit i saw had the YKK zips ? They should be better than the old ones.
Then again - I bought my wife a nice technical bike jacket for £70 or so (on sale at a tri store) and the zip went on that in under a year. She was going to throw it out - but I took it to the dry cleaners, they charged about a tenner for the zip and they found a £20 note in the pocket anyway ! I gave them some chocs for their honesty and telling me, and even so I was still £5 up on the deal ! ;-)0 -
Got a black rain jacket from Lidl that I have worn about 10 times and the zip is kippered. Just decided to jam on one side for no reason. The Aldi fluorescent one I must have worn hundreds of times and it is fine.Faster than a tent.......0

You can register with both Aldi and Lidl for news of their weekly offers. Its a good idea because you have to get in quick on the day the deal starts for any normal sizes.
I got the Lidl mtb shoes which I've been using over the winter. Don't look too trendy but who cares (and they are covered with overshoes anyway.. Their tops are fine, bit long in the sleeve but cost 6 quid as I recall. My wife went to town with gloves, tights etc and loves them.0 -

the gloves are fantastic0

They have a sale scheduled on the 22nd March, so keep an eye out on the site. Quite a lot of stuff featured in the catalogue.
Have to agree on the gloves, I bought a pair of the fingerless ones and for £3 they do a nice job. I couldn't get a nice fit on the winter gloves, but I'm definately going to buy a few more fingerless ones for the hot weather.0 -
FYI
If you live in Northern Ireland, Lidl are doing some cycling gear from Monday (15/03/10), I had a heads up e-mail newsletter from them yesterday!
Only Shorts, Trousers, Jerseys, fingerless gloves, a naf rucksack, helmet & socks, cheap computer and cycling rain cape.I LOVE THE SMELL OF GT85 IN THE MORNING!0 -
Anyone see the bikes that lidl have from time to time? Alu frame, carbon fork, ultegra groupset. Think it was around 800 euro. Looked like a good deal...0
-
anyone got a link to the offers?0

I have the gloves and the crane compression under shirts and shorts they are really warm
and the socks are wearing well :roll:0 -
Lidl are currently doing a motorbike base layer for £13 which I find to be pretty good (got one last year). Got another today along with a sleeveless base layer for £5 which looks as though it could be OK.

Thanks for the "heads up"... Going to pop in after work to look at:-
Base layers (look exactly like the snow boarding ones, got some already, been very useful on delivery round)
Socks (as above, hopefully they will have more in my size this time)
Chunky gloves: Wondering if these will be any good for cycling in, especially on my newly converted Pylon8, around Lordswood and alike================
2020 Voodoo Marasa
2017 Cube Attain GTC Pro Disc 2016
2016 Voodoo Wazoo0 -
The wife bought me a couple of the t-shirt base layers.
Got the large & medium ones & can't tell the difference!0 -
I have found that the Aldi's stuff is better for about the same price but there are not on at the same time.0

I've bought 3 Lidl cycling jackets over the last 1 and a half years (black, blue and red). I was initially pleased with all 3. Then, in fairly quick succession, the zips failed on all of them. Very annoying - zips don't seem to fail on anything else I own. And the amount I spent on these would've bought me a decent cycling jacket. So, unless you're going for reverse-snobbery save up for a proper jacket (or keep the receipt).0

What is the gear like from Lidl? I don't want to be buying something and in a few weeks time finding it falling apart..... Are the Jerseys & Shorts worth buying?
I bought some winter gear from Aldi and that is amazing, its not fallen apart as yet.0 -
