The bike above is a Scott Kokomo 2002, seems to be a bit of a rare animals these days, haven't seen another one for a long time!

Really liked the frame and wanted to keep it for commuting on, so built it up and some where along the line got a little carried away! It's excellent for my current ride to work as it consists of a bit of road nonsense and lovely dose of off-road joy! It's currently doing a very good job of my being my sole bike, but now I'm starting to contemplate saving for a second steed, ah decisions! haha

Spec to follow maybe, if people want one...

Cheers mate :D . Yeah I still think there is room for improvement, would really love to fit a rear disc using a 2B therapy disc adaptor http://2btherapy.com/index.php/bikes/br ... ersion-kit. Also I'm finding the Deore rear derallier a little clunky, even after setting it up properly, though it'll do it for now! They are indeed Manitou Minutes, the elite models from 2008. Oh yeah they rather light, they're really good once you get them set up properly.
  • Bloody Hell!! I've inherited a Kokomo, and yours is the first one I've seen with the same colourscheme. Same as you, I thought the frame was too good to give up on, plus I haven't owned a mountainbike since a Saracen Tufftrax in the early 90s!! so I though stripping and rebuilding one would be a good way to get into it again. I've got a few questions so if you see this post please reply so I can pick your brains on what you did. I want to put some new shocks on as the RSTs on it are ridiculously bad, but I need advice on what will fit, and also what other bits I could upgrade cheaply.
    Cheers
  • Well played, that;s one hell of a restoration.
    Just ride.

that looks sweeeet - good work!!!

i've recently rescued a scott kokomo from death in a skip.... completely rebuilt it with new components and it looks awesome! the final part is the seatpost. i can't fit a 27.2 diameter post in and a 25.4 keeps slipping down; by the power of deduction i have concluded it is around the 26 mark :) to save me prating around with buying the wrong post can you tell me if yours is 26.2 or 26.8??
