I have just bought some road bike wheels for my hybrid and i am now thinking about fitting road bike caliper brakes. I know the frame has the holes to take these type of brakes is it just a case of fitting them and changing the cables. :?

They will fit in the frame and forks etc and when you pull the levers you'll be kissing tarmac as the blocks will most likely grab the tyre. The A2C measurement on a set of road forks is shorter then on hybrid forks.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

what size are the current wheels?

if 26" (MTB) then i would say the chances of the frame having suitable fittings.

  • The wheels are 700c the distance from the hole in the frame/ forks to the centre of the brake surface on the rim is 60 mm i have seen some shimano caliper brakes on ribble cycles that have a drop of 57mm so they clear mudgards. i wonder if they will do the trick :? :?

What brakes do you have on there at the moment?

If they're V brakes, the cable pull is different to that of calliper brakes.
  • Its got v brakes :(
