Sleeved or welded rims?

Can someone tell me the what the difference is please, (Apart from welded being more expensive)

    Very little in practical terms - the welded can be a little stronger in some situtions. Used to be more of a concern if you ran V brakes as the join could be better with a weld.
  • Hmmmm, theres about £15 difference on rims that are £50 each hoop

    On a well built wheel absolutely no difference at all. Only difference is if you really prang a pinned rim it can be a weak point but you really have to smash it hard so hard you are unlikely to walk away from the spill.

  • kinda strange that a manufacturer would make both kinds on the same hoop, (sun ringle MTX 31''s, unless i guess these are old stock. was looking on CRC
