Hi
Im after some relatively light weight susp forks 100mm travel, lockable, for a Trek 8500 MTB frame I have acquired.
I ended up looking at these two forks that both seem to be v similar ::-)
.......anyone out there knowledgeable enough to explain the main difference and whether I should choose "pushloc or poploc" version
Thanks

SL version has internal an floodgate lockout threahold adjustment, basically the adjuster is on the top of the fork leg and externally accessible and activated by a small gold coloured adjuster.
On the SL you have to remove a cap then use an allen key for the same function.
Other than that they are identical.
Pusloc is a slightly more refined ,newer version of the poploc handlebar mounted ,remote lockout.
Unless thay are priced the same I`d take the SL over the race.
I prefer my forks without the poploc or pushloc, just adds weight, cable can get gunked up or frayed and more to go wrong.Just as easy to reach down to the top of the fork leg to lock the fork out.2006 Giant XTC

Thanks for your advice ....did you mean to refer to the SL in both of these paragraphs ?
As I said I want a relatively light weight lockable fork, but not being knowledgeable about something that will cost a fair amount of cash wanted to be certain not paying extra for a gimmick or missing out on an extra feature that may have been worth the extra.0 -
They are exactly the same apart from the way you adjust the floodgate.
Remote lock options can vary.0 -
Race version has external floodgate lockout threshold adjustment, basically the adjuster is on the top of the fork leg and externally accessible and activated by a small gold coloured adjuster.

Sorry for the confusion, edited as above! As I said I want a relatively light weight lockable fork, but not being knowledgeable about something that will cost a fair amount of cash wanted to be certain not paying extra for a gimmick or missing out on an extra feature that may have been worth the extra.
Yep,you got the gist of what I was trying to say!Not worth the extra IMO....2006 Giant XTC

Rockshox forks with SL in the name are OE forks & will generaly only carry a warranty from where you bought them & not from Rockshox.
As a general rule of thumb, anything with SL in the name has the outer legs from one range, but the guts from the lower range. In this case, its Reba upper/lower legs with Recon bits inside & no Poploc.
Its done to keep costs down for manufacturers whilst still looking like a bike has Reba's. There is also Tora SL (Dart internals), Recon SL (Tora internals) etc etc.
JBalfa, .243 racing, Avent and Bombshell importers,go on buy one!

it does depend on the year as the 2010 reba SL dual air and SL air U-turn have lock outs and MC.
but again we have no idea what the OP is looking at."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

...they are both 2010 spec

All Reba SL have Motion Control with adjustable (but in this case tooled) floodgate.
Recon Motion Control is fixed floodgate.
The Tora and Recon SL are part of the XC line up and have identical internals.0
