Hi

I've got a Stumpy Elite (2008) and I've bought some S-WORKS carbon bars to replace my standard ones but when I've come to fit them it appears the stem cap won't fit?!

It begins to tighten up but there is still a gap between the cap and the stem when the resistance starts??!

Any advice?

Thanks,
M.

do you mean the face plate of the stem ( the part normally held on with 4 bolts?) if so, it is completely normal to have a space between the stem and the faceplate.
  • thanks,
yes thats the part i mean, the reason i questionned it was that i think there was no gap with the standard bars?

    thanks again

all of my stems have always had a gap top and bottom, my advice is to tighten the bolts evenly so there is an equal size space at the top and bottom between the faceplate and stem.
  • cool.

    thanks again 8)

you are welcome, nice bars btw, i had a set of the 2008 ones on a bike and they were very tough light and stiff.

And remember to tighten them to the correct torque setting (3.9 n-m)
