I've just acquired a fairly decent nick raleigh Tundra which I want ot convert for Commuting use.

Currently, its specced with SRAM Gripshift max 6-speed shifts working shimano front and rear mech. I'd like to replace these with something a bit more rescillient.

Looking to go to maybe 7 or 8 at the back. The wheels are pretty cheap and heavy so happy to replace these with something more suited to the commuter environment.

Ideally, I'd like to replace the complete transmission, wheels and brakes.

Any recommendations on what you would spec?

This will have a screw on freewheel. You could use a 7 but there is a possibility you'd have to respace the axle and redish the wheel, and if upgrade to a modern freehub system, spread the frame.

Measure the dropout spacing on your bike - what is it? And any pics of the wheel and cogs, with the axle? Or could just stick with 6 speed.
