Got some Smith Evo mtx goggles today, fit the helmet fine, seem to work fine - but my question is can you use mtx goggles for DH/FR?

Thanks

I didn't mean is it PHYSICALLY possible, more of is it recommended, for example the visor material breaking etc.

    Was mainly wondering

    Thanks

A lot of pros wear MTX goggles. MTB specific goggles are a relatively new thing.

MTX goggles will probably be stronger than MTB, no worries there.

what about ski goggles? what's the difference?

I do skiing and MTB and was thinking of getting a pair of goggles to do both.

Can get those for MTB/MTX too, if you want them. Ski goggles won't last long for MTB, you'll scratch the lens and that's it.

MTB(X) goggles tend to be much cheaper than ski goggles though.

so essentially they're the same? just MTB(x) might be tougher and cheaper?

cool thanks for the help guys.
  • A cheap set of goggles is not really worth it!

I was running a set of £30 Oakley mtb goggles which wear pretty crap, they misted up VERY easily and the lens scratched when you looked at it!

I now have a £60RRP pair of Oakley MX goggles (£30 of eBay - can link if you're interested) and they barely mist at all compared to the old ones and I don't think I've scratched the lens yet - they also have an optional nose guard.

I think Gee Atherton usually wears Oakley MX goggles.
