Why don't the uci push to get cyclo-x into the winter olympics?

I reckon it would be a great addition to the itinary.

Because snow or ice isn't a requisite?

    Is that the reason?

    Shame that.

Could run the race on the bobsleigh course I supose...
  • It is the bob course, only the entry point is different as the luge racers need a specialised starting gate to get initial momentum.

Looking at the corner, the original wall looks much too low immediately after the corner and the "safety" enhancement looks improvised and inadequate, giving only a few inches of extra height.

The Luge Doubles is the event most likely to have crashes in, due to the greater weight going through the corners.
  • Simply tragic about the Georgian fella :(

However life goes on as they say. I'll be watching as much as possible. I love winter sports. Done a lot of skiing in my time. Plus it's in Canada. my second best place in the world after living there for 7 months a few years back.

Plus now i've got HD I can watch it all on eurosports in even better clarity than before :D
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
I RIDE A KONA CADABRA -would you like to come and have a play with my magic link?

Not sure what safety enhancement you've seen - but they added about 12 feet of hoarding to cover up the area where he went off the track. It would be impossible for anyone to leave the track at that point now.

I don't suppose the US is selecting that one who threw away the gold medal in the 4-cross with that daft attempt at a trick on the last jump?

    yes - i think she's a favourite.......Lindsay jacobellis.

I was watching that live, at stupid o'clock in the morning, as my wife was having contractions and woke us up - I reckon my boy'll grow up to be a ski bum!!!!

This is our four-yearly opportunity to get excited about a bunch of Scottish housewives with brooms messing about with a polished lump of rock.

    Can't wait.

Just seen video of the crash for the first time. There must be a case of negligence for the organisers to answer there surely? It must have been predicatable that someone could lose it and go off there. If I designed a road with pillars that close on the outside of a bend I'd expect to end up in prison in the event of a crash.
  • There was an interesting article in the Guardian on saturday that included a quote from the track designer that he knew "next to nothing" about luge and skeleton racing
