Hi
It says in the description of this bike, 'FSA Orbit Z1.5R ' does this mean it has/needs a 1.5inch fork?

Thanks

    it is a 1.5 headtube and a 1 1/8th fork.

    it is a reducer headset.

If the website fletch8928 posted up didn't help / confuzed you even more then I'll help.

The 1.5'' refers to the diameter (across the centre) of the headtube's internal dimensions.

So a 1.125'' fork will fit a 1.5'' frame, but you'll need a special headset size down-step adapter.

    Vice-versa (a 1.5'' for WILL NOT fit a 1.125'' frame).

Just to add more numbers and sizes, there's also tapered forks, which at the bottom have 1.5'' bearings, but at the top have 1.125'' bearings - to give more stiffness and keep weight low.

    chaz

Is this offer to good to be true:?

    http://www.cyclerepairman.co.uk/details.asp?ID=1120

Anyone know if that company is legit? Never heard of them although they did reply to my emails very quickly and sound fine....

    Anyway would that fork fit?

    Thanks
  • Yes, it will fit, provided you use another headset.

The headset it has is a reducer - one for 1.125'' forks to be used in the Kona's 1.5'' headtube.

You'll need a 1.5'' headset to go with the forks.

    This is confusing

    What size is the headtube?

    What size is the headset?

    What size are the forks?

That should clear it up

    head tube is 1.5

    headset is a 1.5 reducer to 1.125

forks are 1.125 so will fit straight onto the bike with no changes

but why do you want to upgrade from a 55 to a domain, bit of a sideways step imo

    Thanks for that.

And the reason is because the 55's have had problems, lots of people online give them bad reviews as well as a friend of mine.

Never heard or had a problem with Rockshox, and personally I see the Domain as an upgrade

fair enough, but give the 55's first, its a lot of money to get something wrong

Also new 55s usually go for over 300 on ebay so I would probably be making a profit :D

If you want to play on the safe side, at Merlin's they have the same fork
for £300 and it's white, which will match the bike.
But sill, ride the 55's for a while.

if it is a 20mm maxle and not a 15mm version.
