What's the difference between the Assos Mille and the Assos Uno bibs? And which one would you recommend?

Also, would people recommend buying these and wearing a generic tight on colder days or buy better tights and wear generic shorts over them....Im thinking buying the better shorts would be a better idea as can use all year round....

:?: What are the shorts for outside? No shorts, just the tights.

My preference is for bibshorts underneath and tights on top. Couple of pairs of bibshorts can be washed while keeping one pair tights going. Also in spring / summer you just need the bibshorts.

Having said all that, I also have a pair of Mille padded bibshorts (airblock 351) and they are great for 0 celcius days. Not tired Uno.

The insert and probably the cut. I have the Uno and they're great.

I wear Assos bib tights for winter time which are thicker and more wind resistant than bib shorts and leg warmers, Some people wear tights without an insert over shorts with an inset and that also seems to work.

I have Uno & Mille, and would agree with giant mancp, it seems to be just the cut. Mille are aimed at longer times in the saddle.
I also have the Assos bib tights, as I can't be a*sed with faffing with bib shorts with tights, or leg warmers, or whathaveyou...
I prefer the comfort of wearing one specific item.
    Can't beat Assos...

    I have some Unos.
In what way are the Mille's cut differently exactly?
    Is the material any different?

The materials seem the same, I think the inserts are slightly different.

The Milles are a more tailored fit. The panels are cut differently. The Unos are a simpler shape, slightly tighter but still a good fit. The pad in the Milles is more elaborate (more pieces and more contoured). It is also plusher so more comfortable, if that is possible, over a distance. The Unos are great shorts, and the Milles are even better.

Sorry cjw but - bibshorts ok for 0 C ?

I must be getting old - well alright I am - but I would need 8 layers to go out at that Temperature Assos or not. Out today and my DHB's kept me nice and warm with a good all round fit, and I used the difference to buy so,me additional upper clothing.

 Meant bibtights... not seen 851 airblock bibshorts

And the 851 stuff is fine at that temp. Under the jacket just wear a baselayer... and I do feel the cold.

Should have realised  sorry
  • HI

Can anyone tell me if the new Assos LL tights extend windblocking material over all the thighs? It seems from the photos that some thigh is still lycra/roubaix only.

I have just sent back a pair of Airprotec tights because the windproofing is only over the knees only. My current but tired Northwave tights have really nice windproof panels over knees and upper thighs which I like because I really feel the wind badly. Anyone know who else makes tights like this? Anyone got the new NW version?

    Grateful for advice.

try the assos winter.ll tights (not the same as the airprotec ll)

these have airblock from below the knee right up over the outer thigh and hip, the inside of the thigh has two layers of roubaix/whatever

even when it has been sub-zero i've never had any problem with chilling from the wind with these

there're versions with/without pad, i'd recommened the padded ones as you shouldn't need anything else under them

pearl izumi amfib bib tights (unpadded) - full windproofing from ankle to waist on front, and also a back panel

paid about 75 for them and have worn little else last 2 winters for my commute- probably a bit warm for some but i suffer with knees in cold so they are ideal.

I've got both. The Mille has a different pad. It seems bigger. I find the Uno a bit more
comfortable, but I'm sure that's a personal thing.

    Otherwise they're very similar.

It depends which insert suits you better really, regarding the Assos tights. The Airprotecs for me are wonderful with the S2 insert suiting me, lovely and warm. The Winter LL tights comes with the S5 pad which is different.

Shorts wise, within the S5 range comes the fact that there are three different shapes of pad, you pays yer money, you takes yer choice.
