Just got one of these brand new from an online retailer and after installing the battery the display just shows '9999'.

Have tried pressing everything and re-installing battery. makes no difference.

Anybody suggest a remedy please before I send it back?

Seems like sending it back is your only option:

    Ok thanks.
Not sure I'll be buying another one of these!
Anyone got any recommendations for a HRM for a technophobe?
I think I'm just after a basic but reliable one.
Don't want one designed for astronauts and very clever people.
  • i had one of these and it went pear shaped very quickly. Wiggle replaced and my brother in law now uses it after i got my garmin 705. he's had no problems with it since. polar forums are full of the 9999 death screen so i would say steer clear.

polar are generally very good so it must be an issue with this unit

I've got a Polar CS200 which has been relegated to my commute and MTB bikes since getting a 705. Never had any issues with it.
