DHB Merstons are what I've got. Bout £50 from Wiggle. Out last night for an hour at close to zero; toasty warm!

Merstons for me too. Although I do wear a secondary pair of shorts, but that's mainly to keep a certain part of my anatomy warm!

Anyone tried the DHB Finchdean bibs as well as the Merstons? I'd be interested in knowing the reality of the differences between them - i.e. are they worth the extra money? Thanks

I run the Endura thermolites when commuting. Not super warm but it's not my legs that get cold anyway. They fit and last well. I've had three sets now.

  • I use the Giordana Solid Flexdry bib tights, I have the Merstons too but the pad and fit is far better in the Giordana's. I find all DHB tights too long for me, I have Medium Merstons am 5' 9" and 31" inside leg and they are still about 4 inches too long. The Giordana's are perfect in a large. Nice compression in them too. £45 from Ribble or £39 if you spend over £50
  • Lusso ones are lovely, the roubaix ones are amazing.
  • I have some Adidas tights form crc or wiggle ( can't remember which :? ) Thy're lovely and warm rode in them in -5 plus windchill and my legs were lovely. The were only £34.

I dont get the DHB Merstons...

I read all the reviews, pondered for ages and bought them. Wore them first time out in about 4 degs and was COLD!!!

I'd never been cold in my Aldi specials, and these LOOKED better made and with more fleecy fabirc, but I was COLD on my legs for the first time ever - and I dont get cold normally. The thigh area just lacks windproofing to me - either that or Wiggle sent me the wrong damn version or something. Disappointed with them TBH, although fit and quality seem pretty good.

I have Giordana Body Clone Windtex bibtights (E578). Ribble appear to have sold out of them now, but they are available at ParkerWear. At £81.95 they are just over your £80 budget mind.

I have very long legs, and I'd be happier if they were a little longer (I might have to look at DHBs after reading the comments here). On the whole though I'm very pleased with them. Plenty warm enough when it's minus four. Probably too warm if it's much above 5 degrees though really.
