i've got an 07 F3 and really like it....
  • am I right in thinking the 'F' range is more racy and the 'Z' range is more sportive/endurance focussed? Where does that leave the 'A' range? They look very Aero and TT focussed.

I want something quite aggressive but won't give me majorback ache over 100 miles also. Something fast is preferable to an upright geometry bike that's aimed squarely at sportives. I want to give racing a go.

I think the Felt F3 might be just the ticket. Not sure on the colour scheme. F1 much nicer but out of my league.

that is prett much my understanding
A for Aero.....TT/Tri series - steep angles and twitch handling - not suitable for day to day riding
the F series is the performance range, road race target , sporty rider, blah blah blah.
and the z series a bit less sporty, more relaxed.

I really like the F3 & have always had compliments about it. The Cred of it definately rose with Brad riding the F1 lasy year.

I regularly do 70 - 110 miles on it and find it comfy. changed the stock saddle to an Arione, and thats about that....

great value, I think i payed 1500 (reduced from £2500) for my F3 in 08 ( full carbon frame forks, ultegra 6700 chainset and brakes, mavic Kysrium Equipe wheels and Dura ace 7800 STI, front & rear mechs).... its run faultlesly & ridden hard & i'm still happy with it.

    also a lifetime frame warranty

The only complaint i have is the bare laquered carbon 07 F3 is a bit plain looking...the newer ones look better i think

My bike is 8kg in total

  • thanks Moonshine - useful advice there. The 2010 comes with Sram Red. I'm very tempted. It's just the white & blue colour scheme I'm not crazy about.

I've been looking at the Felt (although only semi-seriously as the budget isn't really there for a new road bike until next year), as I love my Felt B12 time trial bike and the tall/limited slope top tube geometry suits me as I'm all legs and short torso.

For the money (esp. if platinum discount on Wiggle), this bike looks unbeatable (although Fulcrum 5 wheels look like the weak point).

It got a great review in the C+ bike of the rear, making the final 5. I'm sorely tempted...

The F3 is a cracking bike.
    I've had 2 Felts now.
Most recently the F4 which shares the same geometry as the F3 but lower specced.
I think the Blue really suits it.
Cycling Plus top 5 bike for 2010 too.

I found my Felt fine over longer journey's. Did 100 miles on it no problem.
I changed my saddle to my fave Toupe one though.

The SRAM red gears are excellent as I'm sure your aware.
£2500 is a lot of money...but the F3 is a bike you could seriously race.
Stick on a pair of 1400g wheels and your looking at approx 15.75lbs.
  • I've currently got an F4, but would give my eye teeth to have an F3. I love the 2010 blue/white paint job, in fact more than the 2011 paint, so that's good as it's £1,500 cheaper! Anyway, still dreaming. :D
