UKIP's "plans" for cyclists

This made me laugh. I was on the UKIP site today doing some research (after spotting a letter in the local paper today calling them "mainstream":lol::lol::lol: ) and I spotted this in their Transport Policy Outline:
Support responsible pedal cycling but have zero tolerance on dangerous practices such as running red lights. We will consult on proposals for cyclists to display a cheap 'Cycledisc' to deter theft and give 3rd party insurance for car damage

Oh dear... For car damage? I dont know many cyclists who have damaged a car, I know however many cyclists who have been damaged personally or their property by cars, or their drivers...

No way a disk will deter a thief and all that will happen is that "tax thieves" will pop up and allen key the disc off. And they've forgotten about kids again.

Party of numpties.

While it is a bit disappointing that there clearly are people with this kind of view, I think we can safely discount the possibility that UKIP will ever be in a position to implement their policies :D

As long as the disc holder is stylish and carbone, its worth a consideration. :D

What would be better, a Shimano or Campag disc holder?

Why not go the whole hog and put tax discs on pedestians? I've seen bumpers and hoods dented by pedestrians bouncing off them.

And to think UKIP opposed ID cards?
Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.

I bet Rapha would do a cracking leather one in the style of a 1957 Fellini noir epic. And charge £300 for the pleasure. I would buy it as well. :D

The only Party to oppose ID cards in full iirc.
  • If drivers thought all cyclists had insurance they would take even less care when passing. It is only the idea that they would have to pay for any damage to their cars that makes them keep a safe distance.

This is laughable but I want to cry! At least it confirms what I think of this 'party' of idiots.
