Baggy shorts with liner or Baggy shorts with lycra shorts?

I'm toying with buying proper MTB shorts with a liner but not sure if they're any better than my current bog standard shorts with lycra cycle shorts underneath.
Is there a notable difference between the two or should I stick to normal shorts with a pair of cycling shorts underneath?

I hate baggies with built in liners, but then one of my mates loves them! Try befoer you buy dude thats all i can say!
My favourite shorts are now my endura ones, where the undershorts clip into the baggies, all the benefits of both options.Giant Reign - now sold :-(
Rockhopper Pro - XC and commuting
DH8 - New toy :-)0 -
I've never bought baggy shorts with liners in.
I'd rather have a couple of pairs of lycra padded shorts to wear under whatever kind of shorts I feel like wearing that day. Works out cheaper overall. And more versatile. IMO anyway.Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

Plus with non lined shorts you can wear them when not mountain biking, should you so desire.Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

I prefer lycra sorts over liners. Far more comfortable. Plus you can do what I do and buy bib shorts then, a vast improve over the waistband versions0
