I'm planning on taking a short break up to the Afan Forest at the end of March and was wondering if anyone can recommend any good accommodation near by?

I've seen a few places on the visit wales site, but recommendations are always better than star ratings - especially when trying to accommodate a nice muddy cyclist!!

Cheers
Stew.

Stayed there late last year and rooms good, great food/restaurant/bar !
10-15 min ride through village to start the Whites level, just outside the village so nice and secure for the bikes but not the cheapest !
  • Cheers for the replies guys. I've booked into the Afan Lodge, looks like a great place and a brilliant location!

I've only ever been used to the Surrey Hills so looking forward to what Wales has to offer!!

Afan lodge is brand new and really nice. It's close to the start of the penhyd and wall trails, but a bit further to the pub & white's level.
Have a great time! You'll love it!

Well I've never been one for hills so I'm imaging i'm going to lose a bit of weight judging by the route profiles on the website! On the flip side the downhills should be awesome!

I was looking at getting one of the Camelback Mayhem back packs, is this a good size bag to hold a days worth riding gear in? I only ask as I've never been on the bike longer than 3-4hrs tops.
  • Its not a bad size, i use one myself.

Maybe want a slightly bigger bag for real all day work though.
