A guide to making a reasonable imitaiton of a mucky nutz bender fender, for under a pound! :
Time: up to 15 mins, probably less.
Equipment/materials:
5 Zipties (string works too) zip ties available cheap here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100-black-cable-Z ... 563982ac23
Sharp scissors
Hole punch
Empty 2 litre plastic bottle (like this: http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/i ... 5647659143) you may need several if it's your first time, in case you screw up
Cost: 50p, if you already have scissors and a hole punch, (zipties a pound for a hundred of ebay, so 5p for 5 zip ties and 45p for the bottle in my link)

Peel off the label and cut out the main bit of bottle so you don't have any of the curved parts left, as shown in the diagram. Then with the rectangle you have left, hold it against your fork brace and cut down the width so that the bottle reaches just below where the fork brace and the lowers meet on both sides without rubbing against the tyre, then cut the edge that will be attached to the fork brace curved so the mudguard points down (as shown), then use a hole punch to cut evenly spaced holes in the bottle as shown in the diagram: 4341282928_1a80fdb0fb_o.jpg
Then use the string or zipties to attach the remaining piece of plastic to your fork crown, and then cut down the plastic until it is clear of your frame (make sure it doesn't hit the frame or fork crown when the fork is compressed) and doesn't rub against the tyre.
I used string as we didn't have any zipties, but i'll be getting some zipties soon as the string doesn't look as good, and a sainsbury's caledion sparkling water (those green ones) bottle on rockshox recon race 09 forks, which worked for me.
This helps keep your face and stanchions crud free, and there is virtually no build up of cr@p on the mudguard. Good luck with making yours!
