  • good point. I've never heard of a drive by shooting being perpetrated by a motorist.
  • Sounds like a Chav-on-a-bike (a ChOAB ?).

Maybe guys we're getting a bit sensitive about the definition of a cyclist here. It didn't say that the attacker got off his carbon fibre road bike, wearing the latest Team Sky gear and attacked the two men when they asked him to kindly keep to the cycle path.

The guy was on a bike. Therefore to our great and worthy news industry he's a cyclist.

It doesn't mean that the Daily Telegraph will start announcing headlines that all cyclists are derranged potential murderers who'd rather stab you than admit they don't own the road.....................OK.....on reflection ........maybe they will.

Not just the media, look at a dictionary and surprise someone riding a bike is a cyclist. Now they may be a psychopath as well but they are definitely a cyclist.
A person on a bike is also a cyclist.
Anybody propelling a bicycle is a cyclist, whether they fit your or the op's prejudices or not.

Not only was he probably not a cyclist but he was probably only a person on a bicycle shaped object.

Strange then that an act of what could have been premeditated violence was headlined as a cyclist attack.

A gang member was recently shot in a supermarket car park, also in Glasgow. His killers arrived and escaped by car. The headlines read "Man shot dead in ASDA car park" and not man shot by motorists.

Bit like those depressing accident reports where cyclists are always "in collision" with motor vehicles.

Ah but only one was an active motorist at the time - the others were passengers, or even customers.
