Ok, so I did it
Over the f%$king moon
They'll be some guys (and possibly girls!) who have ran further, faster, over worse terrain, but for me, I'm WELL impressed 8)
I don't AT ALL consider myself a good runner - so 50 miles, in 9 hours 11 minutes and 27 seconds is DAMN good 8)
Although, I'd strongly recommend at least doing a full marathon before trying to run nearly 2 marathons... Ahh well. Although, now I ache so badly I can't sleep. I can't walk without looking like I've been anally intruded / doing the robot. Stairs are a no-go, and I reeeeeeally struggle to stand up and sit down. EVERYTHING aches - from my neck, shoulders, back, HIP FLEXORS, quads, hamstrings, calves, ankles and feet... But was well worth it. Bragging rights to the max!
The route was horrible. Proper boggy, muddy, claggy clay, soaking ground, all the way. It was a 50 mile XC route... The first 20 miles were horrible, then after that the ground dried up (but was still super uneven and wet). By mile 8, my feet were soaked, when I accidentally ran into an ankle-deep puddle... Grrr....
Then having to ride my motorbike home 90 miles, at 10pm... That was fun... NOT!
Page 3, place 57, race number 194 8)
But the feeling afterwards... Immense 8)
Edit - even if they did spell my name wrong. Who the hell is 'Chez'...?

Yeah well... I bet I could eat a bigger steak than you....0

To be fair, I bigged myself up (a bit too much in retrospect) saying that I could do it, and was hoping for a 10hr run time - I beat it my nearly an hour - but MY GOD it was bloody difficult!
But, I did it! 8)Boo-yah mofo

That's fantastic! Must be such a good feeling!0

so would you do one again or is it too early?0
-
I would, but not yet.
And DEFINITELY more running-specific training is needed.
But yeah, it's an achievement - one for the memories :PBoo-yah mofo

properly outstanding stuff mate.
i remember marching 35 miles in 9hrs 2 minutes when i were a young lad in an airmobile unit but was in absolute clip by the end and for days afterwards, i couldnt imagine covering more distance, let alone as quickly as that.
top effort, well done.
ps we'll let you off for pics in lieu of the result sheet.0 -

Bloody Hell Chaz, nice one! I bet you're well pleased you're within the top half of the finishers!
So were there moments you walked? And did you go through the mental spell of 'I cant do this' only to come out of it a few miles later?
I'm going to go for a run tonight, I haven't done it in about 10 yearsIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Big well done fella!
what was the race called, out of interest?"scalare come se al grembo degli dei" (apologies to any Italain speakers if the grammar/spelling is off)0 -
Thanks guys.
The race was the Thames Trot 50
And sorry for the delay Surf_Matt, but the route isn't published on the net (that I can find after 5 mins of Googling anyway). If you go onto Google Maps, and search for Iffley, Oxford, find the river Thames, and follow the river untill you reach Henley town centre, that's the routeBoo-yah mofo

Chaz, that's sodding brilliant chap.
50 miles? I'd put a wager on 50% of this forum having trouble riding that on a bike!
I'd be chuffed to do 5 miles on foot, so very very impressed.
The bragging rights are surely only secondary to "I am Chuck Norris", and even that's a close thing! Good work fella!Proved by testing to be faster than a badger.
