NIce colours!
How long is that seatpost  can;t be much left in the tube!
Chain looks a bit slack though!
An I think your chainline is off by quite a bit.0 -
That's a beaut!0
-
Yup, nice build but that chain is far too slack.0
-
Very nice attention to detail on the spacer colours.0

Yeah, I need to get myself a half-link for the chain! The seatpost is 400mm and is currently at the max. extension allowable.
Bigbenj, my chainline is as below -
From centre of seatpost tube to centre of chainring = Approx. 58mm
Frame spacing = 135mm (/2 = 67.5)
Inside dropout to centre of sprocket = Approx. 10mm
So, rear chainline should = 57.5mm (0.5mm difference from chainring). Is this not the way to determine this? I currently have two 2.5mm spacers on the drive side of the bb...perhaps I should reduce this to one?0 -
Good effort!
I'm half way through my first build, having a bit of an issue with the rear mech though :evil:http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

I can slide the wheel back a bit more and the chain is nice and taught. However, the bolts on the chaintug are not long enough and 'bottom out', so the chaintug would not be able to do its job.
If I shorten the chain by another link it is almost spot-on...but just a fracrion too short. I assume that I need to shorten it to this length but then add a half-link?I'm half way through my first build, having a bit of an issue with the rear mech though
I'll be having those issues too when I run it as geared in the Summer! :x0 -
Everything else has been quite straight forward - even chopping down the fork etc. but I seem to become quite retarded when it comes to gearshttp://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

The method I use for setting the rear mech is this...

I'll be looking at that just as soon as I've managed to find the clip I've lost...http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

Stunning mate absolutely stunning! I am definitely purchasing a On One frame come pay day!
Great spec and an awesome colour!0 -

IIRC the rear sprocket should be in the same position as the 4th cassette ring. Might want to ask nicklouse to confirm though.
RE the chain, either a half link chain, half link link or a chain tensioner is needed.
Wouldn't have thought you'd need on with sliding dropouts though. Can;t you take a link out and run the wheel further into the dropouts?0 -

Only if the chainring's in the middle position. Here's it's in the outer position. That chainline's fine.
Thanks, now if I can only get the tension correct I'll be able to ride it! :roll:0 -
that looks superb, i love the colour.
there looks to be loads of room to adjust the chain tugs on that though so surely it shouldnt be too dificult to tighten the chain up0 -
stunning build, really like it!!0

Got a Surly Tuggnut, which sorted the chain tension problem. Expensive, but it's more effective than the On One Chaintug.0

Nice build.
For the chain line, why don't you remove one or more of the spacers from the drive side BB and place them on the non-drive side thus bringing the chainring closer to the bb shell and reducing the amount of spacers you'll need at the hub?0 -
Surely he'll still need the same number of spacers just in a different order?0

I did that on Sunday, those pics were taken before then! Great advice though.Surely he'll still need the same number of spacers just in a different order?
Yep! That is correct!0
