i always took it to mean what happens when you go from downhill to flat too quickly and get 'pushed down' into the saddle. like pulling up sharply in an aircraft.Rock Lobster 853, Trek 1200 and a very old, tired and loved Apollo Javelin.0

You effectively use al your travel round a berm.0 -
As above, I always consider the last big drop and climb on Hullg Gulley as a G out, rear suspension fully compressed and it still feels like you're being squashed into the bike. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -

From how i see it, it's just centripetal force.
The force is always directed away from the centre of the circle (or in this case towards the berm.) It works best if you think of the berm as just a part of a full circle, so as you move through it there's a force pushing you in to it.
Force = (mass x speed squared) / Radius. So the heavyer you are, faster you go, or tighter the berm is, the more force you feel (and the more force you exert on your suss) hence blowing through more travel.
As you leave the berm this force reuces and the suspension will extend accordingly. What We Achieve In Life, Echoes In Eternity0
