Some months ago I used the hole in a wall machine within a bank. A young lady in front of me used the machine. When she had finished I put in my card, but it didnt seem to work. I then rellized that the person before me had not collected the cash the had withdrawn. Which was a considerable sum.
So i took the cash and used my card. I then waited, but she did not return, I then had to quee and paid in the cash to a cashier. I was a bit annoyed as I was running late and this added another 10 minutes.
I told the cashier what had happened. Who advised me that she would give the cash to the manager, who would write to me. The cashier wrote me out a receipt.
I have written now to the Manager of this branch twice asking if the cash was repatriated with the user. No thank you nothing, I have just had a message on my answering machine from a person who has not left he's name from the branch saying that the cash has been "allocated to a suspense acount"..
Does anyone know what the standard procedure is with this?
I would have thought that if no one has claimed this. I could claim after six months?
More annoyed as I have not even had a thank you...

It\'s not what we own, but what we value that makes us rich.

I would have thought that checking the ATM's log would enable them to identify the customer. But having said that it might be another bank's customer, in which they might not be able to obtain that info. I would write to the head office of your bank to ensure that due process is followed. You might have needed to keep hold of the money to have any claim if the possession claim is to be used though. I'm sure there will be a legal eagle along to clarify shortly....0

Next time - guard it and wait, after a while the machine should take the money back in and credit to the account.0

Guard it well indeed. in fact id convert it into non negotiable waste products at the local boozer. if the owner doesnt collect ditch it in the urinal.
