Anyone else wondering jusy how Wiggins is going to go about his first outing on Sunday? They do seem to be taking a very strong team with the likes of EBH, Thomas, Arvesen and Flecha. Think he'll go all out for it to try to show the press he made the right move (to sky), or just take it easy and call it a season opener?

The latest Real Peloton podcast got the inside track on Sky. Apparently they really want to win the TTT. It'll be interesting to see who crosses the finish line first in the team because if they win, then it's the first rider across who takes the leaders jersey.
  • I think it if comes to it then EBH will cross the line first. He has the quality to also grab and stage win if available and take out bonus seconds.

Do Sky have the strongest TT squad heading out there?

Garmin are their. Trek-Livestrong have an interesting outfit with some specialists, ready for an upset. Saxo bring Cancellara with them, plus Columbia-HTC are usually good.

A lot comes down to practice, it's not just being strong.

Sky have made a lot out of giving everyone their chance to shine. If everyone is riding for Bradley in July I would personally see it as a bad idea to try to get him across the line first in the team time trial. Give the glory to one of the guys they want to provide support later in the season.

Colombia have sent, what, their C-team? Cervélo are giving a debut to Theo "the Enforcer" Bos, so everyone else will be afraid to contest the sprints.

Saxo Bank look very strong. Garmin have Farrar, so a few stage wins for them.

Also, damn, where are the Doha team?! They're rubbish, but at least they gave it a go and got in breaks.

Bos'll be leadout for Haussler won't he?
Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.
  • In terms of time trial strength I dont think there is anyone there that can trouble Team Sky. However will they gel in their first event?

Is the TTT actually long enough for a rider to take the leaders jersey and hold it to the end?

Is Haussler a sprinter any more? I would've thought the stages in Qatar favour Bos a bit better. Short, flat and straight.

No chance. It's 8km long and there are time bonuses on all the other stages (10s for the winner etc)

Will it be normal road rigs for the TT like last year?
