From today's Times Newspaper:
To stop a dog pursuing a bicycle with a predatory glint in his eye,one can simply interrupt the illusion:stop the bike.
The chasing impulse triggered by the visual cells that detected the motion will itself let up.
Discuss. :P

does work, stop and say "yes?" on the whole dogs at that point look embarrassed.0 -
Definitely works. Chasing = fun game for dogs, chasing something that's not moving = dull, unless it's a border collie. They'll chase inanimate stationary objects for hours.0

I've found things have improved a lot since I stopped using aniseed conditioner.0

I've found things have improved a lot since I stopped using Pedigree Chum in my sandwiches, dressing like a postman and riding to work on a fire hydrant.
Some dogs I'd stop for, others I'd rather not take the chance. Having your testicles eaten off by a Doberman is a pretty high price to pay just so you can write a letter to the times saying "ha! you were wrong, I knew it!"0 -

Just because I don't patch my tubes... don't take it out on dogs.0 -

In his younger days, you'd have a lot of trouble doing that with my dog. He was capable of an average speed over a quarter of a mile of 41 mph. That said, he'd only have chased you in order to scalp you silly, do a victory dance whilst you eventually caught up and fall asleep for the rest of the day.
Even dogs love a bit of SCR. :twisted:0 -
Greyhound - FCN = 1
Labrador - FCN = 5
St Bernard - FCN = 10
+1 for pedigree
+1 for long coat (wind resistance)
-1 for any form of dog clothing (apart from collars)0 -

FCN 0, like ice. Watch for the blue coat disappearing over the horizon. :P0 -
My great dane is seriously quick. And big. Like a train, that dog. She'd have a -1 for the extra danger of weighing 70kg.0

Quick downhill perhaps, I suspect every Yorkshire Terrier would beat her on the ascent.

Not likely. She'd have eaten it.
(Please note I'm joking. She wouldn't hurt a fly, but she may carry it around for a while.)0
