  • I'm REALLY tempted to take my lass to the one in Solihull.

I assume that's the one your headed to, right?

I know it's pricey, but could you let me know how it goes, how the food was, atmosphere, etc etc.

Nah the Sutton Park one is about 1.5mile from my house

The food is good if nothing spectacular in terms of everything but their steaks are usually pretty damn good!

What sort of size we talking?
  • Argh, I just found out there's one a bit closer! Alot closer, actually!

Ever been to the ''Penn Cottage''?

I'm new to the West Midlands area, so I'm not sure where is good. Want to take our lass out somewhere nice, not shite, lol.

I think the pie my brother had was over 1kg, with enough sides to fill a horse.

Sorry, I spend the week in Salisbury at work, then at the weekends, I travel up to Netherton to see my girlfriend :D

I quite like the West Midlands. I'm definitely going to North Wales with her in the summer, show her some proper hills!:lol:

thats a decent looking steak but i think you will have to go a long way to find anything more delicious than this:

    4141797394_2940c43345_b.jpg

weighed nearly 3 pounds once cooked and removed from the bone and all ended up in my belly.
  • Haha, it's ok. I first Google'd just 'Netherton' and got Wakefield, lol.

So yeah, I thought that's why. Errr... Well....... She does have a black country accent

BUT she's a bloody good physio, and she sorts me right out, so all is forgiven :wink:

Not to mention she's seriously fit - always down the gym!! Even more than me!!!!

So I can overlook the fact she's got a West-Midlands accent. Not a brummie one, not quite that strong, but definitely a West-Midlands accent...

    Where abouts are you?

    Small world aint it!

And no, I don't know much about anything about Netherton... I don't live there, my GF does, who I see most weekends. I'll keep an eye out for it though - and if I see it with my lass, I'll be sure to tell her that I know his great great grandson on an internet!!!

That would be Black Country not Brummie!

I'm sure we've been through this before though! I went to school in Aldridge at St Francis of Assis (same as El Cap) and much of my year came from Tamworth and Lichfield and I tend to spend a lot of time in Lichfield. Ironically the guy I work with's son owned the Scales Inn in Lichfield!

Haha nope mainly just because I live there  About a mile or so from the junction mind but still Great Barr!
  • Haha, quality name for a place to live!

I grew up in Leicester, so not too far from Lichfield. I've cycled there and back before, so can't be that far!

And you definitely ARE a brummie...

When I say owned I actually mean owns...

Whilst we are on the subject theres a great place to eat called Ye Olde Windmill in a place called Gentleshaw (half way between Lich and Burntwood I think down country lanes)

Not in doubt but the usage of 'Yam' is a Black Country term not Brummie!

if i drink enough i get a bit of a brummie twinge in my accent but for the most part my accent is very neutral.

i quite like a brummie accent on a bird though.
  • One of my oldest Army friends lives in Burntwood...!

I've probably been to the Scales Inn...

    Definitely one small world...
