Just out of curiousity how many miles have you done on your dura ace chainset preferably 7900?

Im curious as to how many mile they can withstand bearing in mind new rings are as expenive as a new chainset!!!!! (i know mileage depend soley on how much abuse you give them etc)

Wow, You must not have used any lube at all. My chain set lasted a good 50 miles before completely disintegrating.

Genuine answer to the question dennis. Chainset still in good condition.

I was being sarcastic. Or was it you?
I can't remember ever wearing out a crank set. Chain rings? Sure, I've replaced a few.
With good lubing practices the chain rings should last as long as chain rings last. However long that is. I don't see them being any longer or shorter wearing than any other quality rings.

Well this isn't a Dura Ace answer so sorry, but I repaced my Deore chainrings on a Thorn Audax Mk 3 after 6000 miles. I've got another bike with Campag Chorus and it's done 2500 miles but had a new chain in that time.

I asked exactly the same question when I got the bike with Chorus and Jim Walker at Enigma said that it would last as long as any other chain set, provided it gets sufficient care and attention. I guess the same applies to Dura Ace.

Having said that I wore out a fixie chainring in 2500 miles because I didn't change the chain soon enough.

The moral here is change the chain and save a packet I think.
