I need new road wheels as my Campag Eurus have just died. I am doing Flanders in April and will be training for Etape. Can anyone recommend a set of wheels that would be great for long training rides, climbing in the Pyrenees and tackling Belgian cobbles? My budget is about £700 for the set
Thanks
anthony

I have not tried them myself, but a few on this forum rave about the HED Ardennes wheelset, which seems to offer a great all rounder package of strength and reasonable weight. Think they come in around £650so well in budget.

    Probably worth a look?
  • Thanks. I have reading about them since your post and are definitely now on the shortlist
  • That's a tricky combination. Ideally you'd want a lightweight wheel for the mountains - but something a little more robust for Flanders.

What about some handbuilt 32 spoke IRD Niobium Cadence VSR on Tune 70/180 hubs using CX Rays - £659. The rims are supposed to be pretty strong but also very light (wheelset about 1300g)
