Shimano advise not to use aggressive brake pads on these rims....
Would the Swissstop green pads be ok?
I thought they would a) look pretty cool with my green tyres and b) improve the braking as the pads seem to get nothing but awesome reviews.
Cheers

They have been saying this for some time now. I use Salmons and never had a problem although I think they are softer than normal pads. Not sure about that but I know I have not had any problems yet.0

are 7900 pads not meant to be a 'softer' compound and softer on the rims? I think they are? If not I don't want to ruin my new wheelsets?!Colnago C60 SRAM eTap, Colnago C40, Milani 107E, BMC Pro Machine, Trek Madone, Viner Gladius,

Not sure about the new 7900 pads. The wheelset was out a fair bit before 7900 I would not worry, they were designed with general Shimano pads in mind.
As mentioned I use Salmons which are much better IMO than the Ultegra and Dura Ace pads I used before and if anything I would say they are softer compound and less abrasive. I am not 100% on this but it is my thoughts. Shimano are not going to suggest you use another brand are they?!0 -
A pro-active piece of research on my part has indicated swiss stop pads to be among the best with regards to rim wear.
Am gonna take the plunge.0 -
What is the best cleaning solution to clean these rims after use, ive been using Ultegra brake pads and the rims are starting to show black..... Do I need to change my pads for softer ones?0

So far no brake pad rim gunk from Swissstops.
I cleaned my shimano gunk off with decorator's/builder's wipes, they clean anything off of anything.0
