Guys
I've lost my patience with Evans (or their suppliers). I ordered a Lapierre tecnic 700 from them mid December on the CTW. I was told it would be early Jan, then end of Jan, then yesterday, and now apparently it could be anything up to the end of the month.
I picked the Lapierre because I wanted something a little different and I live near Nirvana in Dorking, and love the look of their frames, but this is getting stupid. I need to find an alternative.
Evans seem pretty limited on options, and I've knocked it down to these two.
Neither of these fill me with much enthusiasm, but can someone tell me one of these is a gem and I should be glad I've got to change my choice? :?
Thanks

Both of these are good bikes.Rockhoppers come out consistently well in tests, and my old 2003 Rockhopper rode really well, even allowing for the crappy forks.
Really can`t go wrong with a Rockhopper and a great platform for upgrading too.2006 Giant XTC

I've been out of the scene for a while so I'll have to do some comparisons tonight. At least both have a better fork than the Tora on the Lapierre.0

Rockhopper Expert has the Recon doesn`t it? Think its coil rather than air so not the lightest, forks but provided you have the right spring in it for your weight should give good performance.
6500 has the air Recon so easy to adjust the sag to suit your weight/riding style and lighter and slightly nicer chainset with SLX,but its £50 more.
Elixir brakes on the Rockhopper v Deore 575 on the Rockhopper.
Little to choose, between these 2,I`d test them both, preferably back to back to see which provides the best fit.
Trek looks flashier,Rochopper a bit more stealthy.2006 Giant XTC

Thanks Spidey. I would never have never noticed the difference in fork. I thought they were the same. I've got Evans to line them both up on Thursday so I'll see which feels best on the day.0

Well I went for the Rockhopper, and I'm really chuffed with it. It felt immediately better than the Trek, more confortable and better poised. Can't wait to give it a good outing over the weekend.
Must resist spending money on colourful bits, and keep it stealthy. :roll:0 -
Good choice,sir!
